The 7 Healthy Reasons to Have Safe Sex This Week - You will be SHOCKED at this Doctor's Advice

7 Reasons to Have Safe Sex This Week - You will be shocked at this!!! - You love making love (who doesn’t?) — but lately, there’s been a lot less sex (and a lot more snoozing) going on under your covers.

What’s going on? “Sex often becomes just another item on our jam-packed ‘to-do’ lists, and many couples are struggling to keep it from remaining at the bottom,” says Carole Lieberman, MD, a psychiatrist in Beverly Hills and author of Bad Girls: Why Men Love Them & How Good Girls Can Learn Their Secrets. But there are plenty of reasons to make sex a priority again, she says — sex has been shown to relieve stress, keep relationships healthy, improve mood, induce better sleep, and a whole lot more (plus, it feels good!).

From your Monday night de-stressor to an end-of-the-week wind-down, here are seven great times to get busy in the next seven days.

1. Monday: De-Stress With Sex

Ew, Mondays — for many adults, the start of the workweek is the most stressful day of the week. “People often feel more frustrated and rushed on Mondays,” explains Jennifer Freed, PhD, a marriage and family therapist in private practice in Santa Barbara, Calif.

You’re in luck: Stress relief is among the many health benefits of sex. Studies attribute this to oxytocin, the hormone your body releases before and during climax — oxytocin stimulates feelings of warmth and relaxation. “If you and your partner plan ahead for Monday night sex, it’s something to look forward to throughout the day when things start to overwhelm you,” Dr. Lieberman says.

2. Tuesday: Sneak In a Quickie

Freed points out that, in the romance languages, Tuesday is named after the planet Mars (like Martes in Spanish and Mardi in French), and that Mars is associated with energy, action, and desire. “If you don’t use your Mars in a sexual way, you may find yourselves bickering and irritated with each other,” she says.

And don’t wait till lights-out (when you’re likely going to be exhausted). Instead, have a quickie when you both get home from work. “Dinner can wait,” says Freed.

3. Wednesday: Have Hump-Day Sex

“It’s midweek — and you’re going to need reassurance and inspiration to get over the hump and through to the weekend,” Freed says. And since sex is such a fabulous mood-booster, a romp in the hay is a great way to do just that.

Wednesday morning, why not get up a half-hour early and have sex before you hit the showers? The serotonin hormone that increases during sex can help provide all-day stress relief. “Midweek, you need a boost of loving to remind you that no matter how stressful life gets, you are lucky to have someone who’s got your back and thinks you’re the best,” adds Lieberman.

4. Thursday: Say 'Thank-You' With Sex

One of the keys to a strong relationship? Your sexual health.

That’s why Thursday night is a great time to plan a quiet, romantic evening with your honey — to remind yourselves that you appreciate one another (and still turn each other on!). “You’re glad to be making it through the week together,” Freed says. “Sex late on a Thursday afternoon or early evening is for making that connection with your partner and saying, ‘We’re in this together.’”

5. Friday: Have Celebration Sex!

It’s Friday — and it’s time to make merry (not just because the workweek is over, but also because Friday night is ideal for rekindling romance).

“You can really take the time to enjoy foreplay and lovemaking,” says Freed. And since sex has been shown to improve intimacy between partners, Fridays may just be one of the best days of the week for your sexual health.

6. Saturday: Skip the Gym for Sex

“Of any day, Saturday is a great day to make sex a priority,” Freed says. “You’ve got the time, and it’s really important for your sexual health.” Is your Saturday already over-scheduled? Swap time at the gym for a romp with your partner. It may not fully replace that cardio session, but many calorie-burning estimates for sex range from 100 to 200 calories (depending on its intensity) — so you’ll still get a workout.

7. Sunday: Start Your Week Off Right (With Sex!)

“A great way to refuel for the week is to have sex on Sundays,” Freed says. Why? Sex releases positive hormones, and some research suggests that getting busy boosts your immune system and rejuvenates you for the new week.

Save your sex for Sunday night, and you’ll also enjoy this added benefit — it may help you sleep better (thanks to relaxing hormones that provide stress relief), which can help you feel more rested on Monday morning.
